What Is Safe Smile Implants? The UK's Dental Implant Marketplace Explained

The Safe Smile Team

If you've been told you need a dental implant and you've started researching costs, you've probably hit the same wall most people do. Prices everywhere are wildly different, and getting a straight answer feels harder than it should be.

We built Safe Smile Implants to change that. This page covers what we do, how our process works, and what makes us different from booking straight into a private dental clinic.

What Is Safe Smile Implants?

Safe Smile Implants (SSI) is a UK dental implant platform that connects patients with verified implant specialists and partner clinics around the country. The closest comparison is something like Booking.com, but for dental implants.

You go through one managed process, get assessed properly, and end up with a treatment plan and a clinic appointment, all coordinated for you.

We're not a dental practice. No waiting rooms, no NHS queues. The whole thing starts online, and from the moment you book an e-consultation, you have one of our Implant Journey Managers guiding things from start to finish.

Our team includes UK-qualified dentists and implant specialists. We built this platform because there was a clear gap: patients were either overpaying at private clinics or taking risks with dental tourism abroad.

We wanted to offer something more straightforward, affordable care in the UK, with proper oversight at every stage.

Who Is It For?

We work best for adults in the UK who are seriously looking into dental implants. Typically, that means people who've already had the conversation with their dentist and know they need one, people who are comparing prices and can't find clear answers, and people who've been looking at treatment abroad but aren't fully convinced it's the right move.

We also offer finance options, so if upfront cost is the main barrier, that's worth factoring in from the start.

How Does Our Process Work?

Couple booking a free dental implant e-consultation online with Safe Smile Implants

There are six stages. Here's how it goes.

Step 1: Free e-Consultation

Everything starts with a free online consultation. Upload your photos and fill out a short questionnaire. It takes about ten minutes, and there's no obligation to go any further.

Step 2: Assessment with Your Implant Journey Manager

One of our Implant Journey Managers goes through your information, including any radiographs you can provide, and assesses whether you're a suitable candidate. They'll look at your dental and medical history, then get in touch to talk through what comes next.

Step 3: Your Treatment Plan

Once suitability is confirmed, you get a detailed treatment plan with pricing included upfront. No estimates that change later, no surprise costs when you arrive at the clinic.

Step 4: Clinical Assessment at a Partner Clinic

You attend an in-person appointment at one of our partner clinics. We currently have locations at Harley Street (London), Manchester, Bristol, Kent, and Surrey.

Step 5: Implant Placement

Your implant is placed by a specialist under local anaesthetic. We use advanced implant systems and digital 3D planning, so placement is precise and the process is as comfortable as it can be.

Step 6: Healing Check and Crown Fitting

After the healing period, stability is checked before anything else happens. Once everything looks good, your final crown is fitted and you're done.

What Does Treatment Cost?

A single dental implant including the crown starts from £1,299. Full arch treatment using All-on-4 implants comes in at under £9,000.

Both figures are considerably lower than what most private clinics in the UK charge. That's largely down to our model: by working through a network of partner clinics rather than running our own premises, we keep prices down without cutting corners on materials, implant quality, or the expertise involved.

Finance is available if you'd prefer to spread payments.

What About Going Abroad?

It's a fair question, and a lot of people come to us having already looked into Turkey or similar options.

Overseas treatment can look attractive on paper. The headline prices are lower. But the follow-up is where it gets complicated. If there's a problem after you're home, getting back to the treating clinic is your problem.

Communication can be difficult. And if you need any adjustments, you're paying to travel again.

Dental implants are a long-term investment. They're meant to last decades. The idea of doing post-op reviews on a video call with a clinic in another country, or flying back for a crown that doesn't sit right, is the part most people don't fully think through when comparing prices.

Our view is straightforward: affordable implants in the UK already exist. You don't need to take the risk abroad to get a reasonable price.

What Treatments Do We Cover?

We handle more than single-tooth replacements. Here's a breakdown of what's available.

Single tooth implant. A titanium implant with a crown placed on top. Used where one tooth is missing and the surrounding teeth are in decent shape. The implant sits in the jawbone, which is what makes it more stable and longer lasting than alternatives like bridges.

All-on-4 (full arch). Four implants placed at specific angles to support a full set of upper or lower teeth. A well-established approach for patients who've lost most or all of their teeth on one arch.

Bone graft. Some patients don't have enough bone density for an implant to go in safely. A bone graft adds volume where it's needed.

Our specialists can assess this during the initial stages and factor it into your treatment plan if required.

Sinus lift. Specific to the upper jaw. When the sinus sits too low, there isn't enough clearance for an implant. A sinus lift raises the sinus floor to create room. Less common, but something our network can handle.

Overdentures. Implant-supported dentures that clip onto a small number of implants, rather than resting on the gum alone.

Much more stable than conventional removable dentures, and more comfortable for everyday use.

Is Safe Smile Implants a Legitimate Provider?

All of SSI's partner clinics are CQC-registered. The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator for health and social care in England, and CQC registration means clinics are inspected and held to defined standards.

The platform was founded by UK-qualified dentists, and treatment is carried out by experienced implant specialists.

The e-consultation model, where an online assessment is followed by referral to a verified local clinic, is already well-established in UK healthcare for other treatments. SSI applies that same structure to implants.

One thing that's genuinely unusual in this space: the pricing is published. In UK private dentistry, getting a real number before you've already sat in a chair is harder than it should be. SSI puts the figures upfront.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the whole process take from consultation to crown?

It varies depending on the treatment and how quickly your implant integrates with the bone. For a single implant, most patients are looking at three to six months from placement to final crown. If a bone graft is needed, that can add time. We'll give you a realistic timeline as part of your treatment plan so you know what to expect before anything starts.

Do I need a referral from my dentist?

No. You can book directly through our website. That said, if your dentist has already taken X-rays or scans, sharing those with us at the consultation stage saves time and gives our Implant Journey Manager more to work with.

What if I've already had a consultation elsewhere?

That's fine. A lot of people come to us after getting a quote from a private clinic or being told a price that felt too high. We'll carry out our own assessment, but any existing scans or records you can bring are useful.

What happens if something goes wrong after treatment?

Our Implant Journey Managers stay in contact throughout your recovery, and all treatment is carried out at CQC-registered clinics with qualified specialists. If there's a concern after your procedure, you have a direct point of contact with us rather than having to navigate it alone.

Can I get implants if I've been told I don't have enough bone?

Possibly. Low bone density doesn't automatically rule out implants. A bone graft or sinus lift can often address the issue. The best way to find out is through an assessment, which is what the free e-consultation is for.

Is dental implant treatment painful?

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn't feel pain during placement. Some soreness and swelling in the days after is normal and usually manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. Most patients find it more straightforward than they expected.

Why choose Safe Smile Implants over a regular dental clinic?

A few reasons. Our pricing is published upfront, which is still unusual in UK private dentistry. You have a dedicated Implant Journey Manager throughout, rather than dealing with a reception desk and a rotating team. And because we work with a network of partner clinics, we can match you with a location and specialist that suits your needs rather than whoever happens to be available.
